The Enchanted Garden

I read the article called 'The Enchanted Garden' which was written by Italo Calvino. This story is about two poor children are impressed with the beautiful garden because they never seen the beautiful things so two children try to play there but they feel uncomfortable because they worry that someone come to find and catch them. And a rich boy lives in that beautiful house but he can not play outside because he is sick. This story tells me that a life is not easy and everyone who live in all over the world can not be a perfect person.

While I was reading this article, I used the reading strategies called 'I try to picture in my mind what I have just read to help me remember what I read'. I imagined in my mind about one sentence that 'Whenever Giovannino said, "Let's go there," or "Let's do this," Serenella followed without a word.' (p 126) This sentence reminded me about myself. I have a older brother and I always followed him when I was young. And also I used 'I stop time to time to think about what I am reading', and 'When text become difficult , I pay closer attention to what I am reading'. This story was quite difficult for me, so I read carefully. In the article, when I read one sentence that 'sharp bends in the path and high, curling eucalyptus leaves and patches of sky' (p 127), I could picture in my mind that two children were impressed with the beauty of the garden.
